Spring is in the air! Get your motorhome ready for the new season

Winter is on its way out, the days are getting longer, nature is coming to life and that scent of fresh flowers fills the air... Yes, spring has arrived! And with it comes the urge to dust off our motorhome or campervan and set off on new adventures.

April isn’t just the month of thawing snow and blooming flowers; it’s also the month of Easter, a golden opportunity to enjoy the first big trip of the year. It’s the perfect time to give your car a service and plan those first getaways. Let’s get started!

After its winter hibernation, your motorhome needs a bit of TLC before it sets off on its journey:

• Fluid and engine check: Check the levels of oil, antifreeze, brake fluid and windscreen washer fluid. Check the belts and hoses for signs of wear.
• Batteries, fully charged: Make sure that both the engine battery and the cabin batteries are in good working order. Check the terminals for corrosion.
• Tyres: Tyre pressure, tread depth and overall condition. If you’re heading to warmer climes, it’s time to say goodbye to your winter tyres.
• Water system: Clean and disinfect the fresh water tank. Fill the system, turn on the taps and check that there are no leaks in the grey and black water systems.
• Thorough cleaning: Air it out, vacuum it and remove any trace of damp. A sparkling exterior is the best way to make a good impression on the road.

Easter is one of the most eagerly awaited events for the motorhome community. Whether you’re looking for the excitement of the processions or the absolute peace and quiet of the mountains, travelling by motorhome gives you VIP access:

• Traditional Routes (Andalusia or Castile and León): If you want to experience the excitement of the processions in Seville, Málaga or Valladolid, a motorhome is your best option. Pro tip: Park on the outskirts or in areas connected by public transport, as city centres become gridlocked.

• The Silence of Nature: If you’d rather escape the hustle and bustle, make the most of these days to lose yourself in the Sierra de Gata or El Bierzo. Whilst half the country is in the cities, you’ll be enjoying peaceful sunrises.

• Lent cuisine: No trip to April is complete without trying the local torrijas or potaje de vigilia. Cooking these delicacies in your own kitchen on wheels has a special charm!
